Owner's Description

The sheer tranquillity and beauty of Goose Wood, with its twenty grassy acres punctuated with woodland areas, provide the perfect haven for relaxation and exploration of the many facets of this beautiful county.

A mere six miles south of Goose Wood lies the medieval heart of York, with its wealth of Roman associations. The magnificent Minster dominates the city's quaint cobbled streets, and a wealth of museums including the Viking centre, York Castle Museum, and the National Railway Museum provide great interest.

History lies, waiting to unfold, all around. Castle Howard of 'Brideshead Revisited' fame is just 15 minutes away by car. Other majestic stately homes invite your exploration: Nunnington Hall, Sledmere, Burton Constable and Newburgh Priory, to name but a few. There's a Norman Keep at Scarborough, castles at Pickering and Helmsley and ecclesiastical wonders like Rievaulx Abbey Theme Park near Ripon offers a whole day of entertainment for all the family.

Picturesque market towns abound: snuggled in hill and dale: Hutton-le-Hole, where sheep safely graze on the village green; Wold Newton, Burton Fleming.

Experience the splendour of Herriot's Dales, the wild North York Moors and its prized Steam Railway. Whilst seaside resorts, each different in character, are strung like beads along the coastline, offering safe, sandy beaches, water sports and bird-watching facilities.
